 Wine
Tasting
A selection of different Ahr wines we introduce in our
fireplace room in a 3 or 6 tasting. Among the wines we will serve bread
and Apollinaris mineral water.
The Ahr region is Germany’s northernmost wine-growing
area and with only 525 hectares area it is the third smallest one. The
steep slopes above the river are particularly suitable for growing red
wine. This is the reason why wine lovers very much enjoy travelling to
the highly praised „German Paradise of Red Wine“.
Only in the Ahr region is the Pinot Noir (Blauer Spätburgunder)
so velvety and heady and the “Portugieser” so mild and fruity.
The maxim of the winemakers is „quality instead of quantity“
(520 hectares of vine cultivation). The fact that the wines from the Ahr
region are constantly considered as one of Germany’s top-quality
products is a true vindication for the correctness of their principles.
Many of the wines are award-winning, one winery won the award for the
„highest quality standard“, another one became „one
of Germany’s most exquisite red wine producers“. Others received
three or even four grapes in the ranking of the famous wine-guide „Gault
Millau“ and many times the „winemaker of the year“ came
from the Ahr region. In the international wine world, everybody enjoys
and talks about the excellent wines from the Ahr region.
 Bike
rental
The Ahr-cycle promises to around 80 kilometers a varied
landscape, from the source in Blankenheim to its confluence with the Barbarossastadt
Sinzig. Families with children can also choose from the different cycle
trails of your desired route and for ambitious mountain bikers, the Ahr
valley, offers spectacular and challenging routes. New is the possibility
of exploring the region with an electric bicycle. Discover the Ahr valley,
the Eifel and the Rhine valley without much effort. With the support electric
drive even longer bike tours are a pleasure.
